The Gold Standard, Nothing Beats It ... Review by Amazon.com Customer
    Overall
If you are reading this review, you know this series is the "gold standard." And, you likely know that purchasing a "previous edition" is ill-advised (since each new edition contains the most helpful and up-to-date material). Therefore, do know that this is the exact text you need PE Civil Exam.

Instead of simply just jumping into the main text, do take time to read the preface and introduction. Read the preface to understand the author's passion for this material (it is weirdly enjoyable). After that, dig into the introduction to prepare you for the minutia of text-taking. The introduction addresses topics such as how the exam and graded/scored, what the pass rate is, and how to approach multiple-choice problems. It also addresses thorny issues such as exam subversion. The author digs deep here to point out some details that could actually become problematic such as using your own pencil, having an unapproved calculator, or even possessing a cell phone. (So read this!)

The text has independent chapters. Therefore, you can select an area of deficiency (or that requires polishing) and focus there. However, be certain to examine chapters about which you feel confident. Review is a very necessary aspect of this exam.

Professors using this text for an exam class should also consult instructor supplementary material (as is advised by the author).

I know the price is daunting, but this book works (and has for years and years). Of course, you can sell the same day you celebrate your passing the PE Civil Exam (or keep it as a reference). (Posted on 4/3/2020)
