How do you become an architect?

No matter which architecture degree you choose, it’s crucial to ensure your program is accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB) if you plan to become licensed. Most U.S. licensing boards require architects to hold a professional degree from an NAAB-accredited program. 

• Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.): The Bachelor of Architecture is a professional degree specifically tailored for pursuing a career in architecture. It provides an in-depth education in architectural design, theory, construction, and building systems. B.Arch. programs generally take at least five years to complete and are one of the most common pathways to becoming an architect.
• Bachelor of Arts in Architecture (B.A. Arch.): This degree offers a broader liberal arts education with a focus on architectural studies.
