    Author Information

    Nikhil Kar holds PE licenses in Mechanical Engineering and Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, as well as a PhD in Mechanical Engineering. He has independently developed review course material for the Metallurgical and Materials Engineering PE exam, including many problems, and has taught extensively. He works full time at a family-owned engineering consulting firm, and he also teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses at USC.

    Author Information

    Dr. Hu has a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Southern California and has years of experience in finite element simulation and stress/strain failure analysis. He has been a teaching assistant for several undergraduate and graduate courses at USC, and has also taught review courses for the Mechanical PE Exam.
  • Lessa Grunenfelder, PhD

    Author Information

    Lessa Grunenfelder, PhD, received her doctorate in Materials Science in 2012 from the University of Southern California. Dr. Grunenfelder is currently full time faculty at USC, teaching materials science at both the undergraduate and graduate level. She has also taught review courses for the Metallurgy and Materials PE Exam.

    Just took the 2017 Oct exam. After going through the exam preparation, I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who wants to pass the metallurgical PE exam. The questions and topics covered in this book represent very well the types of questions you will see in the exam. I recommend to bring this book with you to the exam as a handy reference.
