      Bonnie de Lyons, PE

Bonnie de Lyons is a licensed professional engineer in the state of Oklahoma. She holds Bachelor of Science degrees in both Electrical Engineering (2017) and Math Education (2009). She currently works in the protection and controls section of a large electric utility, specializing in substation network applications.

When she's not working her day job, Bonnie enjoys working with her husband on their "fixer upper" lake house, trying to create/maintain a pollinator friendly habitat in their yard, caring for their Blue Orchard Bees, activities with their dogs (agility, nosework, etc.), traveling, camping, cool-weather hiking, kayaking, attempting to catch fish, attending the occasional rock concert, and generally having way more interests than she has time.

Bonnie's favorite thing about teaching is the "aha moment," when something that had been difficult and unclear suddenly makes sense for someone, and they can go on to be successful with that newfound understanding. Bonnie's favorite thing about standardized tests is the confidence boost when you pass them. She got hooked on standardized tests as a teen. When her homeschool family moved from TX to WA State, she had to take the Iowa Basic Skills test. She'd always felt sure she must be behind her peers, but was amazed and highly motivated when she received back percentile scores in the upper 90s. The rest is history: SAT, ACT, the NALA paralegal certification exam, many CLEP tests (including the dread Chemistry CLEP), four separate Oklahoma educator certifications (6-12 math, 6-12 English, K-12 special education, K-12 English as a foreign language), the FE, and most recently, the PE. Here at PPI, she looks forward to helping fellow engineers prepare and experience success on their exam days, too.

FE Electrical & Computer Exam FAQs

The FE exams are 6 hours long. They include a nondisclosure agreement, a tutorial of 8 minutes, the exam for 5 hours and 20 minutes, a scheduled break of 25 minutes, and a brief survey.
Unfortunately, no. This exam is computer-based and considered a “limited reference exam,” which means that during the exam, the only reference material you can use is the NCEES FE Reference Handbook which is provided on screen. What Our FE Electrical & Computer Students Say

      FE Electrical Customer
“I passed right after taking this course! The course is set up to make you accountable for the homework and quizzes, and gives you the structure you need. Thanks PPI!"
      Joey
"This course helped me tremendously! It’s hard for me to make and follow my own study schedule. The structure of the class was what I needed, and it was very beneficial to me. If you’ve been out of school for a few years, this is the course to take.”
      Will
"The review course does an excellent job of providing many different problems for you to solve. Here's the catch: you still need to put in the effort and solve the problems. I don't normally like online format courses, but this one was better than most. The instructors are super responsive."
      Phillip
"If you have been out of school for a couple of years, this course is extremely beneficial. It contains a comprehensive review of my undergraduate coursework, combined with suggested study schedules, that helped me tremendously. I utilized the quiz generator and practice exams extensively and have no doubt that they were instrumental to my preparation. I took the FE exam a month after the course and passed!"
      Bill
"I found the review manual extremely valuable as both a reference and guide to the breadth/depth of my studying. The lecture handouts were also excellent complementary resources. The work was VERY intense, but also VERY rewarding. I passed the FE exam on the first attempt, and am now looking forward to taking the PE exam preparation course. Thank you, PPI!"
      Tamara
"I signed up for the PPI course, and it was everything I needed. It gave me a structured study schedule, a friendly knowledgeable instructor, and the framework to meet other people with whom I could compare notes and ideas. Without PPI, I wouldn't have been able to do it. I will be signing up with PPI again to take the PE. Thank you!"
      John
"The instructor was very knowledgeable, presented the subjects of the course very well, and had great advice about the exam. The quiz bank also helped me out with practice problems that are similar to the questions you can expect on the exam. If you want to pass the exam and are willing to dedicate the time and energy it takes, you will definitely pass!”
      FE Electrical Customer
“I am very thankful for this course and the instructor. I would recommend this course for anyone taking the exam, especially if you have been out of school for several years."
      Justin
"I took this class after being out of college for over six years. I was intimidated by the FE exam, and this course helped me learn how to solve problems like I did back in my college days. I passed the exam on my first attempt thanks to this course!”
      FE Electrical Customer
“There is no way I would have passed without this class. I would have gotten stuck on my weak areas and would not have moved along fast enough to get through all the material in enough time to still retain it for the exam."
      Sarah
"This class was instrumental to my passing the FE Electrical and Computer exam. I think the practice exam was key as it pulled topics together and refreshed me on what had been taught several weeks prior. I took the exam within one week of the course ending, and I passed.”
      Charles
"This course was very vital to my passing the exam. I had so many practice problems with detailed solutions and explanations, coupled with the instructor's tips to solving practice questions. After solving all the problems in the quiz bank and homework problems, you will be confident enough to ace the exam."
