Civil PE Exam Adopted Design Standards - Effective October 2013

NCEES updated the Civil PE construction, structural, and transportation depth exam design standards in October 2013. The key changes are listed below.

Civil Construction Depth Exam

CMWB: Standard Practice for Bracing Masonry Walls Under Construction, 2012 (updated from 2001)

Civil Structural Depth Exam

AASHTO: AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specification, 6th edition (updated from 5th edition)

Civil Transportation Depth Exam

FHWA: Hydraulic Design of Highway Culverts, Publication No. FHWA-HIF-12-026 (previously FHWA-NHI-01-020), April 2012 (updated from September 2001 with May 2005 revisions)

AASHTO: Guide for the Planning, Design, and Operation of Pedestrian Facilities, 1st edition (newly adopted as design standard)

Though not all of PPI's Civil PE products reflect the adopted editions of these design standards, in most cases the principles change very little. While specific procedures, equations, or values may change gradually from one edition of a design or reference standard to the next, PPI’s books continue to provide an appropriate overview of the design concepts presented.
