    Author Information

    Norman R. Voigt, PE, PLS, is registered as both a civil engineer and land surveyor in Pennsylvania. He has been responsible for design, construction, maintenance, and inspection on a variety of highway and transit projects. Since 1974, he has taught or acted as curriculum coordinator for The Pennsylvania State University's Civil PE review course. He has been an adjunct lecturer at the University of Pittsburgh, and he continues to participate on the senior design project review panel. Mr. Voigt is the author of several Civil PE exam review books, and he has served as a long-time advisor in PPI's Civil PE Passing Zone. He holds bachelor of science and master of science degrees in civil engineering from the University of Pittsburgh.

    • If you don't have an Adobe ID, you'll need to create one on the Adobe website

    • Once you have an Adobe ID, open the Aldiko Book Reader app on your Android device, then tap Settings.

    • In the Settings menu, click on Adobe DRM, then enter your Adobe ID and password to authorize your Android device.

    • Transfer the E-Book file to your Android device with an external SD card or internal storage.

    • Open the Aldiko Book Reader, then tap on the “Files” icon.

    • Locate the E-Book file(s) that you would like to import into the Aldiko Book Reader, check the box next to each of them, then tap on the “Import to Aldiko” button.

    • Download the PDF or ePub file to Adobe Digital Editions on your computer.

    • Connect the Nook to your computer with a compatible USB cable.

    • Drag and drop the PDF or ePub from the "My Digital Editions" folder into your "My Documents" folder located in the Nook.

    • Once the file(s) are added to the folder, disconnect the Nook from the computer.

    • Once the Nook is disconnected, browse the Nook for the "My Library" folder. Open the "My Documents" folder to find your PDF or ePub files.

    Overall
    I liked the organization of the Transportation Reference Manual better than what I already had in the general civil reference manual. Still, I think this could have been a more comprehensive summary of need to know information from both the HCM and Green book. Several questions in the NCEES example tests, and the actual exam, had me chasing formulas and standards that easily could have been included here. Overall content is not a huge upgrade from the general reference manual. I expect the next edition (which will reference current versions of HCM and Green book) will be much better.
