    How to Use

Seismic Design of Building Structures, Print (Paperback), 10th Edition

Seismic Design of Building Structures provides a comprehensive introduction to core seismic concepts and principles. It offers essential background information for seismic problems on the California Special Civil Seismic exam, the Structural Engineering (SE) exam, and the Architect Registration Examination (ARE). 15 chapters and 16 appendices provide a concise but thorough review of seismic theory, code application, design principles, and structural analysis.

An understanding of structural rigidity is essential to applying seismic design principles. Download a supplemental PDF version about the definition of rigidity here.

Should be called "Introduction to Earthquakes" Review by Angie
I am an engineer in California studying for the SE exam. I ordered this book without "flipping through it" online, which was a mistake. As soon as I got it, I returned it because it was extremely basic and not relevant to the SE exam at all, unless you have no idea what an earthquake is. Not helpful at all for the SE exam.
