Edition Differences: LSRM4

These are the differences between the Land Surveyor Reference Manual, 3rd ed. (LSRM3), and the Surveyor Reference Manual, 4th ed. (LSRM4).

  • Seven new chapters on the Global Positioning System (GPS), geographic information systems (GIS), electronic distance measurement (EDM), land descriptions, job costing, economics, and ethics. These new chapters were introduced by a new author for this edition, George M. Cole, PE, PLS, who carries on the ground-breaking work of the late Andrew L. Harbin.
  • With the new chapters, 35 new practice problems, new examples, and new illustrations.
  • Reorganization of the book's chapters into a structure designed to make it easier to learn the concepts.
  • New information in the front matter that covers the NCEES changes to the specifications of its FS and PS exams.
  • Updated information in the text, appendices, and figures, including a new ephemeris table.
