License Renewal and Continuing Professional Competency Requirements


April and October Exams
FE/FS Exam 4 months prior to exam date
PE/PS Exam 4 months prior to exam date
The following PE exams are given in October only: Ag, ConSys, Fire, Ind, Manf, Met, Min/Min, Nuc, and Pet. The Naval/Marine PE exam is given in April only. Washington Structural III exam is given in October; Washington Forest Engineering exam is given in April.

FE Exam Information

Min. educ. required: Senior year or graduation in school or college approved by the board. If a senior in college, senior standing must be certified by the school or college.
Required experience: 4 years of approved education; 4 years of experience approved by the board; 4 years of combined education and experience.
Waiver granted for FE: Possible: EAC Eng degree + 12 yrs exp


PE Exam Information
NCEES exams offered: All
Residency requirement: No
Required experience: EAC Eng degree + 4 yrs exp; TAC Eng Tech degree + 5 yrs exp; 3 yrs of EAC Eng education + 5 yrs exp; varying exp requirements for other degrees


License Renewal Information
License renewal: PE--Every 2 years; PS--Every year
PDH required for renewal: PE and PS: No
