OMG! I do not think I did very well...so my question is, do I need to reapply? I mean, since I am in the system,do I need to get more reference letters, etc. or do I just need to pay more $$$$. It was a good test in the sense that it tested your understanding of everything and your ability to apply it-minimum competency my @#$%^& foot.

You prob. did fine. I was really nervous my first time and doubted I passed and I ended up passing all of the multiple choice. They will send back the test results in plenty of time and then you can decide if you need to re-take. There is no need paying any $ until you get your results back. Thats what happened to me the first time and I had to re-take part III they sent back the results and then a letter to retake. You did your best just remember that!

I feel like I either bombed it or I did really well! It's funny because people told me that you just don't know and it's true. For what it's worth, my friend had no clue how she did and she ended up passing all three sections!
Just remember that it's O-V-E-R!!!! And we have some time to be ourselves for a bit. Also, it's never as hard to study the second time as it is the first time.

This is my first time taking it and I am just praying I did well!

I think I did well on parts I and III, but I'm unsure about part II. I finished part I with 1 hour 30 min left! I'm pretty sure I nailed the floor plan. The millwork was little confusing and the lighting a little tricky, but I think I did well enough to pass on those parts. I guess there is nothing to do no but wait. Oh, and RELAX!!!! Yay!

I KNOW that I bombed the practicum! I was so nervous and I think i suffered from total test dumbitis.
I could not figure out the millwork. I got so confused. How can you have an accessible counter with all of that stuff under it?
The lighting was a nightmare. It was such a mess with all that switching. I know they will have a hard time reading mine.
I don't know who wrote this, but I agree with whoever said that the practicum was much harder than the ones we had to study from. I thought the plan was easier(until I realized that the windows were at 21") but I thought the RCP and electrical were much more detailed than the ones I had studied and worked on...
Oh well, now we wait...

Yeah the millwork was tricky. At the 30 minute call I realized I had drawn my Section backwards and had to redraw the whole section! Hopefully I got all my original notes on there.

Ravenmaniac- The Check Out Counter was 96" Long. I drew a line while reading that was 96" long. Then I took each "cabinet" dimensions and created separate boxes along the line. Also from the floor plan you could tell that the 12" open cabinet was on the left and the 36" cabinet was to the right. In between was the accessible work station which was open except for the privacy panel. That's how I figured out the directions. Anyone else get that layout?

i feel totally the same GHuff. sect. 1 and 3 went pretty well, and 2 was BAD. I wasn't sure how i did on section 1 until I took section 2 and was just at a loss. where the hell did those questions come from. Seriously? i feel like that stuff wasn't even in ballast. it's frustrating to study for 2.5 months and then realize i probably could have studied for one month and gotten the same result. all that time memorizing...i feel like 75% was subjective. blah!

Hi Hedijj

I did the same thing on the millwork. Had a bit of leftover cabinetry on the far right on the elevation that made me wonder if I had done it wrong. Good to know someone saw it as I did. Fingers crossed I passed but this one was trickier than the practicum I did in the Spring. I ran out of time on the last exam - aced the morning portion and then did my lighting and electrical in 20 min. - hence the redo! This one was tougher but I think I passsed??????

Hey Everybody,
Congrats on getting though it-whatever the results. Can I make another small suggestion?? Write down everything you can remember about the test now-before you block the nightmare out of your head. Do a quick perspective sketch of your millwork & compare what you did with what everyone else is saying about it.

In 3 months when you get your results, you won't remember many of the details or questions. If you should have to re-take a part, your own notes will be one your best tools. If you passed them all, others will benefit from your notes.

Hedijj-
I drew my millwork the same way you did. A 12" open shelf unit on the left hand side of the elevation, then the 36" unit with the drawers and doors, then an open area with a modesty panel for the rest of the counter.

I actually thought the millwork was the most straightforward one I'd seen in all of the practice I did...not curved/angled, and they actually gave dimensions that added up correctly for once...

With regard to the morning portion of Section III...did everyone else feel like they had a lot of circulation area? I felt like there was more space than we needed to fit everything in...hoping I didn't miss anything, but I felt good about it, so we'll see.

YES! I had a lot of circulation area. There needed to be a corridor to lead to the elevator and bath...they didn't mention the NIC mechanical room but I assumed it needed to be accessible from the corridor. Since we had to have easy access to the sculture garden there was quite a bit of circulation going on to connect all these areas. Since there was only one side off the buidling with windows i found I second guessed myself less regarding the amount of circulation and as to where the 2nd means of egress should be on the first floor.

Im kind of worried though. I backed myself into a corner and completely forgot to add a second means of egress in the RESIDENCE...do you think I'll fail for that? Other than that I think I did pretty well on section III...maybe.

I didn't have a second means of egress from the residence either. Whoops. I don't quite know where it would have gone...the elevator was the only way down.

Out a window?! I only had the one exit upstairs, which also worried me!

I did show an operable window in the bedroom...but does that count as a second means of egress?
Did anyone have a second exit from upstairs?? If so, where?

I didn't add a second exit upstairs either. 1st you couldnt add any exit anywhere since it was just the elvator and 2nd i though since was residential with a occupancy less than 10, the code does not required a 2nd exit. So i think that it's ok. What about the sencond exit on the 1st floor where did guys located it?? mine end up being to the garden which is kind of wierd but the rest of the window in the front where block by planters. :s
