Should I take the FE other disciplines exam or the discipline-specific FE exam in my own field?

First, find out whether your state or school requires you to take the exam for your major or working discipline. Some states do. If your state does not, the choice is yours. We suggest evaluating the exam specifications and working through practice problems and sample exams for both the other disciplines FE exam and whichever discipline-specific FE exam you are considering. Make your decision based on your level of preparedness and on the pass rate information that follows.

FE Other Disciplines Exam Pass Rates by College Degree Discipline, October 2013

NCEES tracks the performance, by discipline, of examinees who take the FE other disciplines exam. The following data is for FE examinees who are attending or have graduated from ABET-accredited institutions (only degrees with over 50 EAC/ABET–accredited examinees are reported in the table below). NCEES does not report data for non-ABET graduates.
