Here are details on how the Exam Cafe works:

Creating Online Exams. The Exam Cafe comprises a large, online database of realistic, FE-exam-style practice problems. From this pool, you can create unique exams to administer to your students online. As an exam sponsor, you have several choices when creating an exam:

Standard Exams

Order a timed practice exam, either 2 or 4 hours long, with problems that simulate any of the general or discipline-specific FE sessions (chemical, civil, electrical, industrial mechanical; sorry, no environmental yet). For general exams, you select "morning" or "afternoon" problems depending on the difficulty level desired.

In standard exams, the distribution of problems by topic follows the percentages specified by the NCEES. There are sufficient problems in the Exam Cafe for you to create multiple full-length, unique exams for each session and discipline.

Pricing for standard exams are:
$25.00 per student for a full AM exam (120-problem, 4-hour)
$20.00 per student for a half AM exam (60-problem, 2-hour)
$20.00 per student for a full PM exam (60-problem, 4-hour)
$10.00 per student for a half PM exam (30-problem, 2-hour)

Customized Exams

Create timed morning or afternoon exams to meet your particular needs or interests. You select any number of problems from any of the General and Discipline-Specific topic areas--including and omitting any topics you wish. Timed exams allow 2 minutes per problem for morning-level problems and 4 minutes for afternoon-level problems.

Pricing for custom exams is $.40 per problem, with a 30-problem minimum per exam (or $12.00 per student).

Immediate Score Reports. The Exam Cafe automatically scores your students' exams as soon as they are finished. You have immediate access to these scores online. Scores are reported by individual student, by class, and by topic. (Students have access only to their personal scores.) Here are examples of the different score reports provided to you:

Administering the Exam. The time frame in which your students take the exam is flexible--you choose when your exam goes online and how long it is accessible to students. You can administer the exam in a computer lab setting, where everyone takes the test together, or let students take it independently on their own time.

Payment. Payment is flexible, too. Your department or organization can pay for the exam after it has been administered, or you can have students pay as they go.
