101 Solved Mechanical Engineering Problems (MESPT)

These 101 problems, in essay format, are substantially more challenging than those you'll find on the Mechanical PE exam—offering a great way to hone your problem-solving skills.

    One of our customers writes:

"Don't let the (multiple-choice) exam format dictate how you prepare. Working longer, more detailed problems is always good, because this allows for more thorough comprehension. Then, when you get a less complex problem on the exam, with some process-simplifying 'givens', you'll know exactly where they fit into the overall problem."

Problems are grouped by topic to facilitate your review. Complete step-by-step solutions are provided.

    Horrible Review by Ryan
The problems required too many assumptions, were far too difficult and involved to be comparable to problems on the exam, and required access to information that was not included in the reference manual. Further, the exam solutions did not state where equations or information came from (or reference back to the reference manual), so I could not learn how to replicate the solution for future problem without spending an absurd amount of time trying researching the solution. Although these were sometimes interesting academic engineering problems, there was very little test preparation value from solving the problems. I recommend jettisoning this resource from the curriculum and instead including more practice problems from the MEPP. Not an effective use of time. (Posted on 4/16/2016)

Not easy to follow. Review by Kevin
Worked out problems often skip steps. Otherwise it is a good reference. (Posted on 6/16/2014)
